The pandemic has resulted in many people losing their jobs, and those worst affected by a ratio of 57.5% to 42.5%, are women, according to a survey last week in the US. The task of having to look after an elderly relative and / or young children usually falls on women. This undoubtedly has much to do with the skew in figures which confirm women typically are paid 23% less than their male counterparts, yet economies that harness the power of women have reported increased productivity, economic resilience and a boost to their economic growth (source: IMF 2018 report).
