The problem with treating disease rather than preventing it is that we end up being sicker for longer, and while drug companies can make fortunes from remedies, there has to be an examination of how we become more naturally healthy for longer.
Morgan Stanley in in their weekly podcast “Thoughts on the Market” identified how there are currently 30 centenarians for every 100,000 of the population. Typically they manage to avoid ‘the four horsemen’: cancer, diabetes, coronary disease and alzheimers, and their lifespan is thus extended by 10-30 years.
